The Annual INCOSE International Symposium, hosted by the International Council on System Engineering (INCOSE), was held in Washington, DC from July 7 – 12. It’s one of the most influential annual academic meetings in the global system engineering field. This event’s theme was Delivering Systems in the Age of Globalization. AVIC was present as an enterprise member. Mr. Zhang Xinguo, Executive Vice President of AVIC, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the conference. He was also granted the Founders Award by INCOSE, becoming the first Chinese citizen to win the award.

Zhang Xinguo delivered a keynote speech, the Co-evolution of Aeronautical Systems & Systems Engineering, on behalf of AVIC on July 9. Based on the development of sophisticated aviation product features, Mr. Zhang analyzed the great challenges that traditional system engineering faces in the digitization era, and proposed the path and trends of the SoS approach.

INCOSE highly valued the remarkable contributions that Mr. Zhang made on the promotion of the system engineering approach to study and engineering practices in the Chinese industrial community. President of INCOSE Garry Roedler issued Mr. Zhang the Founders Award, which is granted to only one person every year in the world. This award is aimed at honoring the individual who makes great contributions toward promoting system engineering knowledge for its contributions and practices. Zhang Xinguo is the first Chinese citizen to win this award.
